“Who do I meet with?” Academic Advisor – All students have an assigned academic advisor. Meet with or contact academic advisor throughout semester for any questions/concerns. Meet with academic advisor in October to prepare for priority registration for the spring semester. Meet with academic advisor in March to prepare for priority registration for the summer & fall semesters. “Who do I meet with?” Faculty Advisor – All students have an assigned faculty advisor. Great resource for questions about coursework, internships or career guidance. SLPA students work primarily with faculty advisors after first year. Athletic Training students (once officially accepted into the program) work primarily with faculty advisors.

“Who do I meet with?” Secondary Education Minor Advisor – Students majoring in Physical Education and Community & Public Health- Lifetime Wellness. Pre-professional Advisor – Students interested in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Medical School, etc.

Athletic Training Admission Criteria
Prior to be considered as a candidate for admission into the program, a student must have completed a letter of application including three recommendations. The student must have also completed 24 hours of academic course work and have a minimum overall GPA of 2.5. After meeting these requirements, acceptance into the program is based upon 4 four weighted criteria. Students with the top 20 scores will be considered for admission into the program. Students apply in March of their freshmen year and are selected in the spring and summer to start the following fall. Overall grade point average of 2.5 or better 45 pts Grade of B- or better in ATHT 3580, ATHT 3570, BIO 2010 20 pts Clinical evaluation of 60 observation hours Interview 15 pts Total points 125 pts

Are you Ready for Athletic Training?
Science is a critical part of the major, particularly Anatomy & Physiology. If you are not strong in the subject and/or have no desire to learn, this may not be the major for you. Once accepted into the program, students have clinicals each semester. Students in this major should be prepared for a significant time commitment to athletic teams’ practices and competitions. Minimum of 200 hours each semester May need to participate in clinicals during early morning or late evening hours, weekends, holidays and/or beyond the regular academic school year.

Community and Public Health
Public Health Concentration Designed to prepare health educators in community and public health strategies Training to influence change in public health practice for individuals, organizations, and/or communities Health Education and Lifetime Wellness Concentration Designed to prepare highly qualified Lifetime Wellness instructors for grades K-12 Teacher licensure obtained through Secondary Education minor. 2.75 GPA And ACT score of 22 or higher or successfully passing the Praxis CORE exam

Career Path There are many interesting and exciting job opportunities working in elementary and high schools, health care, businesses and industries, and colleges and universities. Graduates also can find employment on the federal, state, county, or local government levels. Exercise Science Want to learn how physical activity impacts the body? Want to conduct research on how exercise is used to treat diseases? Then THIS is the major for you! Major requirements In addition to your general education Natural Sciences, this major requires that you complete BIOL 2010 & BIOL2010 is a pre-requisite to most of the EXSC major classes. Must have a C or higher. Physiology of Exercise is best taken by junior year, otherwise it could delay progress towards degree. 12 hour internship required

Leisure, Sport & Tourism Studies
The degree in Leisure, Sport & Tourism Studies offers a broad range of professional opportunities & studies in recreation administration, outdoor recreation, sports studies & tourism studies. Potential employment opportunities Parks & recreation departments The sport industry (college, recreational, professional) Event planning State or national parks Outdoor recreation & adventure education Resort or hotel administration Internship requirement enables students to experience working in the LSTS field.

Physical Education Physical Education offers a career in which you can enjoy sports & physical activity, give back to children or youth through teaching or coaching, while fulfilling a critical role in helping people achieve a quality level of skill, health & fitness. School based practicum/clinical experiences & observation in physical education setting

Physical Education The Secondary Education minor enables students to earn a K-12 teaching license. What is required to apply for the Secondary Education minor? Completion of 45 credit hours (may be in progress) GPA of 2.75 ACT score of 22 or higher OR passing PRAXIS CORE exam Completion of Secondary Education Application Submission of 2 reference/interview forms 300 word autobiography Pass background check

Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
The Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology program offers students the opportunity to learn about human communication; speech, language, and hearing disorders; and intervention methods for children and adults experiencing communication problems. Specialized clinic courses & experiences allow majors to combine academic knowledge with actual services. Students work in the University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic under certified speech-language pathologists & audiologists.
