All About Me School Experience:
Graduate of FTCC in Fayetteville , NC Associate in Science-SGA, SADD, Phi Beta Lambda, & Gospel Choir Graduate from North Carolina State University. Part of the NSTA, Geology Club & WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Taught 8th grade in Wilson County Moved to Smithfield Middle School. This is my fifth year of teaching 6th grade All About Me

6th Grade Goals (Expectations)/Curriculum

We will also be discussing (CER) Claim, Evidence and Reasoning. This is an offset of the Scientific Method. More in detail when we start doing our labs. 6th Grade Goals (Expectations)/Curriculum

Most assignments will be given a rubric grade
Grading will be based on completeness of assignment, portion of assignment completed correctly, effort, directions followed, and neatness. 3. Missing assignments: parents will be notified via progress reports and/or conferences 5. Students will be rewarded for turning in assignments on time 6. Progress reports will be sent out 2 times throughout the quarters or as needed Variety of assessment techniques: teacher observation, student self assessment, rubrics, tests, writing (formal and informal), standards checklist, bell work quizzes (given out each quarter as a quiz grade) 8. There will be notebook check to check on organization and certain work. Such as syllabus, notes, and homework. Grading Policy homework-10% tests/Projects-40% Quizzes-30% classwork/labs-20%

We will be using Google Classroom A LOT this year. 1. Students will be assigned 1-2 homework each week. Usually vocabulary will be due the following week of the day issued. Sometimes there will be a quick response to be discussed the next day. Name must appear on work. 3. Homework must be recorded for each subject. This includes daily assignments; future quizzes and test dates; report and project due dates; and special reminders in AGENDAS. Grading Policy-Homework , Lab Notebook, Assessments

Labs: Each lab will be graded. If a student is absent he/she will be except. Remember these labs go with the lesson we are currently talking about and is a great way to use our 21st century skills. Incomplete labs will automatically receive a 60% Grading Policy-Homework , Lab Notebook, Assessments

1. Students will be notified of quizzes and tests in advance. 2. Students talking or cheating during a quiz or test receive an F (0%), a misconduct notice is issued, and a parent signature is required. Bell work Classroom Time (Lecture, Note taking, Labs, & Assessments Last three-five minutes of class Reflect on daily work and clean up. Teacher will dismiss everyone from their seats. Bell to bell

Incentives-6TH GRADERS CAN AIM FOR
EACH Quarter: *Medieval Challenge-based on assessments ONLY 80% and above *Treasure Prize (save up your Knight/Carter Bucks once a month) each item will be worth so many Bucks. Some choices but not limited: pencils, erasers, home work passes, book makers, notepads, etc. **Principal, Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Character Trait Awards, Classroom Academic Award (Student of the week/bi-weekly END OF YEAR: Knight’s Award **All the above from each quarter for the year Science Most Improved Award Science Highest GPA Award OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO LOOK FORWAD TO: Athletic Student Council Battle of the Books Math Count Literacy Magazine Science Olympiad Envirothon Incentives-6TH GRADERS CAN AIM FOR
