The following slides have a few “real life” scenarios that could occur in anyone’s work day. Based on the positive and negative work habits we discussed, we will determine together what the best response for each scenario is!

You work at a fast food restaurant
You work at a fast food restaurant. A customer approaches you and loudly declares, "I don't know why you people can never get my order right. I did NOT want cheese on my burger!" What is the appropriate way to respond? You calmly apologize and get the correct item for the customer. You tell the customer that apparently they ordered incorrectly. You walk away from the customer and tell someone else to handle the situation.

You work in a retail store
You work in a retail store. While unpacking a new shipment of merchandise, you drop and break a vase. What should you do? Sweep it up and hope that no one notices Let your manager know what happened Tell the manager that it was already broken in the package

You overslept and have arrived late to work
You overslept and have arrived late to work. This has happened a couple of other times recently. Your supervisor asks why you have been late. Say "I was only 5 minutes late. What's the big deal?" Tell your supervisor that it was not your fault that you were late because the traffic was bad. Acknowledge the problem, apologize and state that you will be on time from now on (and come up with a plan to make that happen)

A co-worker shares that she has been having some family problems at home. What is an appropriate response? Tell everyone in the office about what you heard Let the co-worker know that you are there for them. Tell your boss about the issue.

You work at TGI Fridays. You are required to have your name tag on each time that you work. You keep forgetting your name tag. Your supervisor talked to you for not having your name tag. What is an appropriate response? Point out that a few of your co-workers also forget their name tags. Say "It's just a name tag- I tell my tables my name anyways" Acknowledge the problem, apologize and make a plan to remember your name tag.
