2 THE VALUE OF THE BIBLE “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation” (Psalm 119:97-99).

3 THE VALUE OF THE BIBLE Rich In Nourishment

4 Rich In Spiritual Nourishment
1) It is milk to the babe. “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2). “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able” (1 Corinthians 3:1-2).

5 Rich In Spiritual Nourishment
2) It is solid food to the mature. “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:12-14).

6 Rich In Spiritual Nourishment
3) It is water to the thirsty. “Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:13-14). Water- “Allegorically, that which refreshes and keeps alive the soul is likened to water, viz. the Spirit and truth of God” (Thayer). “…it becomes within the one who receives it a source of constant spiritual satisfaction” (Dan King, Commentary on John, p. 76).

7 Rich In Spiritual Nourishment
4) It is bread to the hungry. “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world” (John 6:51). “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63).

8 THE VALUE OF THE BIBLE Rich In Nourishment Message For Moods

9 Has A Message For All Our Moods
1) Discouraged – a message of courage. “We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9). “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).

10 Has A Message For All Our Moods
2) If weak – it gives strength. “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified” (Acts 20:32). “So when they were sent off, they came to Antioch; and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the letter. When they had read it, they rejoiced over its encouragement. Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words” (Acts 15:30-32).

11 Has A Message For All Our Moods
3) If sorrowful – it brings comfort. “This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life” (Psalm 119:50). “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men” (1 Corinthians 14:3). “Therefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:18).

12 Has A Message For All Our Moods
4) If joyful – it supplements our joy. “I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches” (Psalm 119:14). “I rejoice at Your word As one who finds great treasure” (Psalm 119:162). “And these things we write to you that your joy may be full” (1 John 1:4).

13 Has A Message For All Our Moods
4) If in despair – it gives hope. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope” (Romans 15:4). “because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel” Colossians 1:5).

14 Has A Message For All Our Moods
5) If dying – it promises life. “holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain” (Philippians 2:16). “For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come” (1 Timothy 4:8). “For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day” (2 Timothy 1:12).

16 It Supplies All Our Spiritual Needs
1) Sinful – instruction on forgiveness. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16). “Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you” (Acts 8:22).

17 It Supplies All Our Spiritual Needs
2) Religious – teaches how to worship. “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:23-24). “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42).

18 It Supplies All Our Spiritual Needs
3) Suffer – tells of a great physician. “And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance” (Matthew 9:11-13).

19 It Supplies All Our Spiritual Needs
4) Need direction – gives instruction. “O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps” (Jeremiah 10:23). “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8).
