1 Cultivating our Union with Christ
Bridging the Gap Cultivating our Union with Christ

2 Bridging the Gap Salvation is not just something God gives us, but is about Christ being in you and you being in Christ all the time. We are declared innocent and in good standing before God…and that declaration is true each day because we are united to Christ.

3 Bridging the Gap We are children of God who are absolutely secure in our Father’s love Since we have been united to Christ, we have been taken out of the realm of sin and are united to Christ who is making us more and more like Him over the long course of our lives.

4 Pray like God is with you always
“Praying at all times in the Spirit.” Eph. 6:18 “As we pray most earnestly night and day.” Thess. 3:10 “Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thess. 5:17 “Be constant in prayer.” Rom. 12:12

5 Pray like God is with you always
“Thank you, God” Breath Prayers “This is not a mindless chant I practice in order to reach some higher spiritual plane. Just the opposite. I realize I’m on a low spiritual plan, and I am crying out for help like a little child who runs to his mother saying, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy.”

6 Thinking like God is with you

7 Thinking like God is with you
Who has the biggest influence over how you think about whatever happens to you in life? Meditation is the activity of consciously thinking about who God is, what He says is true, and how it applies to your life.

8 Thinking like God is with you
“His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” Psalm 1:2 “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it.” Josh. 1:8

9 Thinking like God is with you
Actively thinking about God and who He is and what He has promised strengthens our dependence on Him, our trust in Him, and our sense of His presence and reliability.

10 Repenting like God is with you
What do you do when you sin? Do you take time to pray to confess you’re your sin, ask for forgiveness, and repent? “Repentance is letting God’s quiet voice become louder, larger, and stronger in your life…if sin is running from God to get control of our lives, then repentance is turning back to God and yielding control to him.”

11 Repenting like God is with you
“When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through groaning all day long…my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer….I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found!” Psalm 32:3-6

12 Repenting like God is with you
“The two steps of faith and repentance are the basic movement of the Christian life…this is how you keep in step with God’s Spirit: faith and repentance.” Rankin Wilbourne
