Living In A World Of Uncertainty Isaiah 6:1-7
2
“In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!"
3
And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. And I said: "Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!"
4
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: "Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for."” Isaiah 6:1-7 ESV
5
Big Idea of the Series: This series encourages believers to remain faithful in uncertain times, trusting God’s heart and sovereignty based on the promises of His Word.
7
Remember Moses? Remember Elijah? Remember Daniel? And don't forget Jesus
8
“No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord
“No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord.” Proverbs 21:30 ESV
9
The first insight is Isaiah saw a vision of God. (vs. 1)
What's your vision of God when you are in a place of uncertainty? Whatever your vision, it should always have God on the throne.
10
IN THE MIDST OF UNCERTAINTY, YOUR VISION OF GOD WILL ALWAYS POINT YOU BACK TO GOD.
Big Idea: During uncertain times, we can trust that God is still on the throne and in control.
11
HOW YOU SEE GOD IN UNCERTAIN TIMES WILL DETERMINE HOW YOU SEE LIFE IN UNCERTAIN TIMES.
12
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4 ESV
13
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 ESV Because He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever, we can live with certainty in the midst of uncertainty.
14
The second insight Isaiah provides us with is a heart that immediately moves to repentance. (vs. 5-7)
15
Repentance: Proclaims the holiness of God and the sinfulness of man (Changes the way you think and turns you in the direction God wants to take you) REPENTANCE TO GOD ALLOWS GOD’S HOLINESS INTO YOUR LIFE
16
REPENTANCE TO GOD ALLOWS GOD’S HOLINESS INTO YOUR LIFE
REPENTANCE TO GOD LEADS TO DEPENDENCE ON GOD
17
What is it that you need to repent from
What is it that you need to repent from? What is blocking God’s holiness from being fulfilled in your life? What does God need to burn so you can be free from guilt and shame and the power of sin?
18
“Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago.”Acts 3:19-21 ESV
19
APPLICATION: Ask God for a vision of who He is.
IN THE MIDST OF UNCERTAINTY, YOUR VISION OF GOD WILL ALWAYS POINT YOU BACK TO GOD.
