Lesson10.5 Surface Areas of Pyramids
Wednesday, April 6 Lesson10.5 Surface Areas of Pyramids
22
Surface Areas of Pyramids
Objective: To find the surface area of pyramids.
23
Surface Areas of Pyramids
The surface area (SA) of a three dimensional figure is the outer face or exterior boundary of the figure.
24
Surface Areas of Pyramids
A pyramid is a three-dimensional figure with faces that meet at a common vertex. vertex
25
Surface Areas of Pyramids
The shape of the base determines the name of the pyramid.
26
Surface Areas of Pyramids
A pyramid has at least three triangular sides, called lateral faces.
27
Surface Areas of Pyramids
The slant height is the distance from the vertex to the mid-point of a side of the base.
28
Surface Areas of Pyramids
As with prisms, the shape of the base determines the name of the pyramid.
29
Surface Areas of Pyramids
There are many types of pyramids. We will only be concerned with regular triangular pyramids and square pyramids.
30
Surface Areas of Pyramids
All pyramids that we will be working with will be regular pyramids, meaning the bases will either be a square or equilateral triangle.
31

AIR Review In a bag of marbles, 3/5 of the marbles are blue and the rest are red. If the number of red marbles is doubled and the number of blue marbles stays the same, what fraction of the marbles will be red? 3/5 are blue 2/5 are red The ratio of blue to red is 3/2. If the red marbles are doubled, the ratio of blue to red would be 3/4. Now the ratio of red to total is 4/7. total
