Janice Poda Melinda: Welcome and overview of competition Melinda turns presentation over to Janice Purpose of competition: We created the competition to provide an opportunity for teachers and other educators to speak up about the PL they need through the implementation of ESSA. What it will involve: Bullets on slide Before we close today, we will provide you with some important information pertaining to the contest including the timeline and where you can find more information and resources. Now my pleasure to turn the webinar over to Alice Cain and Steve Robinson from TeachPlus. Alice and Steve have put together a tremendous presentation for us today focused on ESSA, the key provisions in ESSA, a timeline for implementation, and, importantly, how educators can get involved. 2 Objectives for Rating Applications
Identify finalists to attend competition on July in Chicago’s Loews Hotel Calibrate final selection for diversification of team members, geographical locations, organizations represented, and grade levels. Melinda 2

3 Process Team members submit their applications by to Learning Forward by Friday, June 10, 8:00 p.m. EDT Learning Forward will remove names, locations, and organization affiliations from applications Learning Forward will send applications to a team of three people Raters will use the rubric to rate the applications. Raters will enter their scores in a google doc Melinda 3

4 Timelines An invitation to the Google Doc has been emailed to raters
A copy of the rubric has been ed to raters A link to applications that will be housed in DropBox will be sent to reviewers no later than 8:00 p.m. ET, Sunday, June 12 The deadline for reviewing the applications assigned to you and completing the Google doc is Wednesday, June 15, 10:00 p.m. ET Melinda 4

6 Calibration Meeting A face to face meeting for one representative from each sponsoring organization will be held on Thursday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m. in NCTAF’s offices at 1525 Wilson Boulevard, Ste 705
Arlington, VA If you’re unable to attend in person, you may phone in using Melinda 6

7 Deadline for Hotel Room Block
The deadline for reserving a hotel room using Learning Forward’s room block is Friday, June 24 When we notify the finalists of their selection, we will also provide details on how to schedule travel and reserve rooms. Melinda 7

8 Scoring Each team can earn up to 100 points.
There are two questions that must be answered. The team has a choice of 3 of the 5 remaining questions. The questions are divided into subcomponents and criteria are written for each subcomponent. Score each subcomponent and enter the scores in GoogleDoc. Melinda 8

9 Rubric for Scoring Now available: Rubric for rating applications
Teams interested in participating in the Agents for Learning competition can now download a full set of criteria that raters will use to score applications to determine finalists. The PDF file also includes detailed rules for the competition. Download the PDF now. Melinda 9
