Sketch and label what you observed in Table 1 and then make conclusions about why you can conclude it is a sample of human blood. Part B ABO/Rh Blood Typing  Use the template to lay out your 6 blood typing trays. Using the 6 “red” bottles put 3 drops of each of the 6 blood samples in their trays. Follow steps 3-7 of your procedures pages S8-9 making sure to rinse the toothpicks between each sample. Record your obs. Table 2 CLEAN UP - rinse simulated blood down the sink and place trays on towel Assessment Questions #s 1-11 Objectives: Describe the characteristics of human blood

Check and review prelab Blood spatter lab part A part 1 - CLEAN UP ANY SPILLS IMMEDIATELY Get a large red piece of construction paper, Blood drip bottle. 3 index cards, Ruler , Meter stick Place index cards on red paper to catch any missed drop etc Label every drop!! Write your initials on each card. When done, complete table 1 Blood spatter lab part a part 2 Get a new card and be sure to label it. For step 5, return your blood drip bottle in exchange for a beaker of simulated drip and project blood. Use a piece of computer paper to catch the blood spill. CLEAN UP. Wash beakers, place cards on red paper and move to front of room to dry HW: Begin review sheet Objectives: Students will develop an understanding of how blood stains and blood spatter can be interpreted and used as evidence.

Blood spatter lab part B - CLEAN UP ANY SPILLS IMMEDIATELY Break into 7 groups Read your assigned procedure and make a plan, gather your supplies Clean up, hang paper to dry and clean syringes Walk around to fill in table 3 using the blood stains created by other groups Blood spatter lab part C READ the directions Gather the different surfaces and a blood drip bottle Use your red paper from last class to catch any drops Clean any glassware HW: Take a copy of the results for part D and E and cut and paste into the correct tables Answer ASSESSMENT QUESTIONS #1-4, 6,7,9, AND 11 Complete review sheet and study for next class Objectives: Students will develop an understanding of how blood stains and blood spatter can be interpreted and used as evidence.
