Questions To Ask ? Can I resolve issues on my own?
Am I self-motivated? Do I have clear goals? Am I willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve my goals? Do I have good study habits. Do I have a good work ethic, get to school on time, turn in assignments, and try my best. Students, if you find yourself saying no to most of these questions, spend your high schools years working on these important life skills. Parents, if your son or daughter is not ready give them the opportunity to mature while still in high school.

How To Help Your Dual Credit Student
Encourage them, let them know college is important and they can be successful. FERPA applies to Dual Credit students educational records. Success in college will depend on their self-motivation, discipline, organizational skills, study habits, and time management. Encourage these skills . Remind them that one hour in a college class requires two-three hours of preparation outside class . College will be different from high school. They will be given a greater freedom. Allow them to take ownership for success and responsibility for failures. Encourage them to establish open communication with their instructors. If they are experiencing challenges in a course, they will need to communicate with their instructor. Do not contact instructors on their behalf. FERPA law applies to Dual Credit students.

Things To Know Drops and Withdrawals Payment Grades Class Schedules
18
Drops & Withdrawals Drops Withdrawals
Drops and withdrawals can be confusing! Both drop and withdrawal refer to getting out of a class before the end of the semester. Drops Before the Official Date of Record Withdrawals After the Official Date of Record If you DROP a class before the official day of record ( usually the 12th day of class) it will never appear on your official transcript.
19
Important Information on “W” (withdrawals from college courses)
When you WITHDRAW from a course, you will receive a grade of “W” on your transcript. A “W” does not hurt your GPA. Ask your school counselor for the dual credit withdrawal form and make sure you get instructor, parent, and counselor signatures on the forms. Talking with your counselor does not withdraw you from the college course. Be aware of the college deadline for Withdrawing from a course. After graduation, withdrawals will be counted. The state will penalize you after 6 withdrawals. Dual Credit courses do not count toward the “Drop 6 Rule”
