Areas of common interest Common histories in many countries impacting on mental health and addiction in the population Alcoholism – underlying causes, treatment approaches, family and gender-based violence Mental health – Suicide – leading to an interest in suicide prevention activities Youth – self-esteem, addiction, suicide, & marginalization Interest to deal with inclusion and exclusion as precursors to these problems

Knowledge management – ability to make international data & stats available in one place, in multiple languages, accessible to all Meetings and conferences that integrate stories of resilience Need local solutions Built on principles that speak to needs – community based, community driven Need culturally sensitive policies & processes Importance of indigenous involvement
