What are the main differences between OD Max and OD Precision? The receiving optics was improved. By this a much better resolution can be achieved. The only trade off of this is an increased weight of the sensor heads. All the measuring algorithms are now carried out within the sensor head. Therefore the sensor heads can be use stand alone, too. Many models are available with big and small light spot geometries, now. Additionally to the surface mode a glass thickness mode was added The light distribution of each sensor head connected can be display The thresh level can automatically or manually be controlled now. This is especially for critical application e.g. semi transparent material advantageous.

Why did the technical specification remain rather comparable to the OD Max? As described in the previous question the improvements made were mainly of three kind. First the receiving optics, secondly the stand alone ability and finally the measuring algorithms were improved. Even though all these changes result in an improved usability and performance in critical applications these improvements are impossible to specify. Therefore this can hardly be seen within the specifications. Never the less better results will be seen in critical applications What IP rating does the connector of the sensor head have? The connector now is also rated with IP67 Can the analog output be inverted with the OD Precision? Yes, it can be inverted

After starting up of the OD Precision the analog outputs do not work? What shall I do? This could be either caused by a prior firmware version or zeroing. Please carry out a reset and then check the settings of the analog outputs manually. If running with the default setting the analog output should be scaled for the measuring range specified (e.g. 65…105mm). In case of shifted measurement values (e.g. by zeroing) the analog output should be scaled for the measurement values around zero (e.g. -20…+20mm). Why is no accuracy specified for the OD Precision? As the testing equipment (including all aspects) needs to be min. 10 times more accurate than the actual specification our final testing procedure is at its limits (due to variations within the mounting). Therefore only linearity, which is very comparable to accuracy, can be specified. After calibration at the customer therefore the same level of accuracy can be achieved.

Are the 5 switching outputs assigned to the calculation result again? No, each switching output can individually be assigned to sensor A, B, C or the calculation What is the accessory IO-EXP-AOD5 good for? The IO-EXP-AOD5 is an External input & output terminal for extended connectivity of the controller unit of OD Precision. The terminal board included in the scope of delivery only includes the power supply and all 6 analogue outputs. To use all other in- and outputs (e.g. switching outputs, laser off etc.) the expansion terminal is needed.
