Si705x Temperature Sensors Value Proposition
Patient Temperature Management Internet of Things Industrial Control Internet Infrastructure Personal Emergency Systems Automotive Consumer High Accuracy(from 0.1 to 1 °C) maintained across -40 to 125 °C range Ideal for industrial applications Industry-leading low current consumption: just Hz! Ideal for battery powered systems 0.1 °C sensor (Si7051) can be used to measure human body temperature Digital I2C interface and fully factory calibrated Temperature is the most common environmental measurement and has a wide variety of applications across all customer segments. Silicon Labs’ Si705x temperature sensor family offers industry-leading low power consumption, along with very high accuracy and precision. Their high precision, (from 0.1C to 1C), maintained across the full industrial temperature range makes them ideal for use in industrial temp sensing applications. Their class leading power consumption, at under 200nA at 1Hz sampling rate means they can be used in battery powered systems without impacting battery life The 0.1C accurate sensor can be used in human body temperature monitoring applications like disposable temp patches and wearables.

The I2C interface connects easily to MCU-based applications while the 14-bit ADC provides high resolution measurements. Unlike competing digital temperature sensors, the Si705x devices maintain their accuracy level across the entire operating temperature and voltage range. For battery-powered applications, the industry-leading low 0.2μA current consumption is ideal. The Si7057/8/9 temp sensors allow consumers to use the main MCU power supply for their temp sensor, and reduce the footprint to 2x2mm. 3x3 mm DFN Package

Si7051 High Accuracy Temperature Sensor
Medical and Consumer Medical applications require ±0.1 ˚C Typical digital temperature sensors have an accuracy of ± 0.5 ˚C More advanced products (e.g., Si7053) have accuracies ± 0.3 ˚C Still not good enough for the human body temperature applications Si7051 meets the requirement of ±0.1˚C max Fully factory calibrated – saves expensive secondary calibration step Competitively priced for use in consumer applications Exceeds ASTM E1112 standards Standard Specification for Electronic Patient Thermometers Many medical and consumer devices measuring body temperature require 0.1C accuracy. The majority of temp sensors on the market do not meet this requirement. Even the parts that do often require the customer to do a secondary calibration in the end system, and are not priced competitively for use in consumer applications. The Si7051 solves these issues by delivering 0.1C accuracy in a low power, easy to use, fully factory calibrated sensor. It is also competively priced to be attractive to consumer applications. We have seen a lot of interest in this for body temp monitoring applications like disposable temperature patches and thermometers.

Evaluation Kit for Si7057/8/9 Si705x Evaluation Kit Evaluation kits available for each Si705x temperature sensor USB dongle control board “Postage stamp” board for each sensor Ribbon cable connects postage stamp boards to USB dongle boards Evaluation software GUI supports all Si70xx temperature and humidity sensors AN1026 : Temperature Sensor Designer’s Guide The Si705x-EVB Evaluation Kits come with everything developers need to demonstrate and evaluate the Si7050/3/4/5. The kits contain a main board that plugs into a PC via a USB socket, and a “postage stamp” board containing the Si7050, Si7053, Si7054 or Si7055. The postage stamp boards attach to the main board with the included flat flex cable. An evaluation software GUI controls the Si705x-EVB kits and supports all Si70xx relative humidity and temperature sensor evaluation kits. The AN1026 “Temperature Sensor Designer’s Guide” discusses mechanical and thermal considerations to allow customers to get the maximum possible accuracy from the Si705x temp sensors. This is especially useful for customers looking at the higher accuracy parts, like the Si7051.
