Ponyboy & Co. go to drive-in, meet Cherry & Marcia. Later, there’s more violence over the girls.
Johnny kills Bob, the Soc, in the park. Johhny & Ponyboy run away, with Dally’s assistance. They’re hiding in the church on top of Jay Mountain.
Johnny & Ponyboy disguise themselves. On Friday, Dally visits to inform them what’s going on at home. They decide to return, but before they’re able they try to save some kids from the fire in the church they’ve been hiding out in. Ponyboy reunites with family.
The rumble between the Greasers and the Socs takes place. Johnny cannot recover from his injuries and dies. Dally dies too.

-Goodbye = saying farewell to the book

-I’m sorry = apology for judging the book too harshly at the beginning
-In sympathy = writing to a character in the novel who has lost someone
