Design Document Web Page Design Project
2
Define the message What is the topic of your web site?
What do you already know about? What interests you, or what do you want to learn about? What kind of a site could you create that would interest other people? Example: “My web site will be about climbing Mount St. Helens and to share personal stories about my climbs.”
3
Identify the Audience Who’s the audience for your web site?
Who would be interested in viewing your site, and why? Is it too narrow or too broad? Example: “My audience will be those people living in the Northwest, interested in climbing a volcano, and my family and friends that are interested in my personal stories of past climbs. My audience will also include people from around the country interested in looking at photos of Mount St. Helens.”
4
Define the purpose What is the purpose of your site?
Why create a site on this topic? Example: “The purpose of my site is to inform people interested in climbing Mount St. Helens about some of the things they will need to know before climbing. My site will also be entertaining to family and friends.”
5
Create a Scope Create a list of of subtopics you will be covering in your web site. Think of the subtopics as pages in your site. Example: Scope-My site will include: Trails to climb (Monitor Ridge) Permits/Safety (where to buy/what to know) Seasonal conditions (when to climb) Gear and equipment (what to bring) Personal stories of past climbs
