Inline Help Text Alerts You to Changes
Several inline help callouts now appear to help get the word out about changes to the system or time-saving features, such as Chart Search. Click Got It to permanently hide a callout. If you click Show Me Later, all callouts are hidden for 12 hours.

Widescreen View for Telephone Encounters
A new widescreen view for telephone and refill encounters puts all the tools you need on just a few screens, so you can document these encounters more efficiently.

Send Letters from the Wrap-Up Tab
For specialists who frequently send letters, the Communication Management section has been added to the Wrap-Up tab. Now, you can generate letters as you’re finishing a visit without having to open the Communications activity. You can still send letters as well from the Communication stand alone activity.

Document Charges from the Wrap-Up Tab
The Charges section has been added to the Wrap-Up tab to streamline documentation and improve efficiency. Now, you can generate charges as you’re finishing a visit without having to open the Charges activity.

Choose Your Default Startup Activity in Hyperspace
To change your default startup activity, click the new Set as Default button on the desired startup activity tab.

Personalize Your Screen with the Customize Activity
With the new Customize activity, you can now rearrange the Epic menu, your activity tabs, and your main toolbar, hide rarely used activities, and make activity tabs larger or smaller. In the right corner you can always reset back to default menus.

SnapShot is now a Stand Alone Activity
When you enter a patient’s chart you will now default to the SnapShot stand alone Activity. This will be outside Chart Review and be an easier method to see a summary of the patient. The Stand Alone Snapshot has all functionality it previously had.

See the Patient’s Story in Chart Review
A cleaner visual timeline of events on the Encounters tab tells each patient’s story. Use the new built-in filters to quickly see appointments with you, in your department, or at your location. Admissions, ED, OB/GYN, Anesthesia, and Surgery are system default filters. Specialty and Practice will be based on user/login department.

Visual Changes Highlight Relevant Information
Redesigned display in all Chart Review tabs make it easy to find the most important details. A. Encounter type icons change based on the classification of the encounter. Your encounters have green icons and text. Admissions and hospital encounters have red icons and text. Encounters with other providers in your department have black icons. Encounters with providers outside your department have grey icons. B. Timeline headers make it easy to follow the thread of a patient's health history.

Redesigned reports in all Chart Review tabs make it easy to find the most important details.

See Key Info from Multiple Lab Results in a More Compact Report
When you select multiple tests on the Labs tab in Chart Review, you’ll now see a more condensed report with information from each test. If you want to see more information, such as the associated diagnosis or the ordering provider, click View Full Report.

Find Patient Information Fast with Chart Search
Save time and clicks with Chart Search, a powerful search engine right in Epic. Instead of looking through the patient's chart or browsing Hyperspace menus, you can now enter keywords in a search box to find the information and activities you need.

Right-Click to Search the Chart
Instead of using the search bar (prior slide), you can also: In the Chart Review Preview pane and certain sidebar reports, select the term you want to search for. Right-click and select Search for [the highlighted text]. Chart Search opens to show results for the highlighted term.

A Preview That Works for You
To save you clicks, the Preview pane now opens any time you select a row in Chart Review, even if you previously closed the pane. To help you see more info without scrolling, the pane will open on the right or at the bottom of the Chart Review activity, depending on the size of your screen. Click the arrow to the right of the Preview button if you want to change your preferences.

Use Keywords for More Flexible Filtering
Find what you’re looking for by entering keywords rather than selecting specific filter values. With keywords, you can create filters for later use, even if what you’re looking for isn’t in the current patient’s chart.

Update Your Quick Filters in Chart Review
You can now update your Quick Filters without having to save a new filter and delete the old one. When you edit an existing Quick Filter, you’ll notice two new buttons in the Filters pane – Save <Filter Name> and Save as New Filter.

Control How Your Quick Filters Appear in Chart Review
To change the name of a filter or change the order in which they appear on your toolbar, click the wrench. In the past, filters were added to the toolbar in the order in which they were created, so some of your commonly used filters might have been hidden under the More menu.

Edit or Addend an Encounter Straight from Chart Review
You can now right click on an encounter from within Chart Review and Edit or Addend the encounter right from Chart Review.

Find Completed Messages
With the new Completed Work tab in In Basket, you can quickly find messages you’ve finished in the last 30 days instead of having to search for them. If necessary, you can follow up on messages from here or move them back to the My Messages tab to work on later.

Stay in Sync on Pool Work
For pool messages that don’t use the responsibility feature (like Pt Callback, Rx Request, and Staff messages), you can now indicate to your colleagues that you’re working on a message by taking the baton.

QuickActions Route QuickNotes to Sender
You can now create QuickActions that route a QuickNote to the sender of the message.

Edit Rx Requests Quickly
When you click Edit Rx to modify order details for a prescription request, the Order Composer opens automatically so you can make changes more quickly.

Finish and Send Letters
When you open a communication from a Letter Queue In Basket message, you can now click a new Send button in the Communication Management activity to send the letter to its recipients.

All Patient Chart FYI Messages Appear in Routed Reports Folder
Previously, you could receive informational messages about patients in three different folders: CC’d Charts, Pt Reports, and Review Reports. Now, all such messages appear in the Routed Reports folder.

Associated Diagnoses Included with Refill Requests
When you receive a refill request from the pharmacy, diagnoses associated with the original order are now automatically copied forward to the new prescription.

Notify the Care Team By clicking the arrow next to the Add PCP button, you can now quickly add members of the patient’s care team as message recipients.

Configure In Basket Toolbars
You can now customize the toolbars for your In Basket folders. Select the folder whose toolbar you want to customize, click the wrench, and select Configure Buttons. Then drag and drop the buttons into the desired order. Move infrequently used buttons to the Other Actions menu to reduce clutter.

Document Orthostatic BP Details in the Vitals Section
When necessary, you can now include information about a patient's orthostatic vitals right from the Vitals section.

Add Buttons for Your Most Common LOS or LOS Modifiers
If there are a few modifiers or level of services you use frequently, click the wrench to add them as buttons in the Level of Service section.

Add Speed Buttons for your Most Common used Note Templates
If there are a few note templates you use frequently, click the wrench to add them as buttons in the Notes section.

Add Speed Buttons for your Most Common used Visit Diagnosis
If there are a few visit diagnosis you use frequently, click the wrench to add them as buttons in the Visit Diagnosis section in the Plan Chunky Button. You can also rearrange the order of the buttons and add easy to read captions.

One for All: Mark as Reviewed with One Click
You will now see a Review Activity in Epic. This will allow you to Mark All as Reviewed from one convenient location.

More Historical Context from the Problem List
View a patient's past medical history right from the Problem List. Instead of managing the problem list and past medical history as two separate lists, clinicians can now review an integrated list of these diagnoses in the Problem List activity when Past Problems is Checked.

Send yourself a reminder message from Open Patient Encounters
You can now send yourself a remind me to message from within an open patient encounter. Enter in the day to be sent after encounter closes and you will then have a pt reminder message in your In Basket when the time has passed to remind you to act upon.

Meaningful Use Reminder
To receive credit for Meaningful Use Transitions of Care remember to enter a To Provider in all external referrals! Entering a To Provider or Location enables the transition of care document to automatically be sent and you will automatically receive credit.

MyChart Messaging Features
What kind of messaging via In Basket Can be done through MyChart? Request Rx Refill The patient can send an In Basket messaging asking for a medication refill. Ask Customer Service Patients can send a message through MyChart to the MyChart Help Desk with any questions they may have in regards to the site or access. Sent Messages Patients can review messages they sent to their practices and whether or not the message was read. Letters Patients can review messages sent by the clinic, including health reminder letters, result letters, and general letters from clinic staff. Clinical Calls Patients can review details of care advice calls Bulk Messages Clinicians can contact multiple patients at one time using standard messaging features or send messages to follow up with select groups of patients, such as their diabetic patients, after running reports to identify these groups.

MyChart Request an Appointment
Within MyChart patient’s can request an appointment through the Schedule an Appointment activity. This will send an In Basket message to the practice’s pool showing the information. Staff can directly respond back to that message. Patients can also direct schedule their Screening Mammogram through MyChart.

MyChart Proxy Access With proxy access, you can give parents access to their children's MyChart accounts, give a husband or wife access to a spouse's MyChart account, or give caregivers access to the MyChart accounts of those for whom they care, such as an elderly parent. Individuals designated as proxies do not have to be patients themselves to view data through MyChart.

Multilingual MyChart Coming with the July Upgrade of Epic is the availability to have MyChart at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Spanish. The top right corner of MyChart gives the user an English or Spanish option.

MyChart’s Lucy Lucy is Epic’s Personal Health Record (PHR) solution and is hosted by Epic. Patients can create a link to MyChartCentral from within their MyChart, which allows them to access any other MyChart accounts they might have with different organizations, as well as Lucy. Within Lucy, patients can import information from their MyChart account as well as add their own information and upload any external records.

In My Medical Record patients can view test results, medications, immunizations, and request their medical record to download.

Visit and Admission Summaries in MyChart
Patients can view visit summaries and admission summaries to see details for past appointments and hospitalizations. Patients can also download a copy of the visit summary or send it to an outside provider.

MyChart Utilities for Staff
From More ActivitiesMyChart Utilities staff can activate the patient on MyChart, reset password, grant proxy access, review MyChart messages, release results, and send the patient a message.
