Support Available Financial support comes in various forms:
Tuition Fee Loan (Student Loan) Maintenance Loan (Student Loan) Derby+ Bursary (University of Derby) NSP will be withdrawn after 2014/15

Payment of fees You can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan for the full amount of your annual tuition fee If you take this loan, you will not need to pay your course fees upfront This is non-income assessed If you don’t apply for a Tuition Fee Loan you will need to pay your tuition fees annually

Assessment for support
Parental income If your parents are separated or divorced, it is the income of the natural parent you normally live with If that parent has remarried or lives with a partner, it is the income of the natural parent the student normally lives with and their spouse or partner’s income

Payment of loans Loans are paid in three instalments:
September (after enrolment) January April Loans are not repayable until after the course is completed

Repayment of loans Student loans for tuition fees and living costs are not repayable until after you have finished studying and you are earning over £21,000 a year Remaining balances will be written off after 30 years

Postgraduate Loans You can get up to £10,280 for your whole course.
If you’re studying for 2, 3 or 4 academic years, the loan will be divided equally across each year of your course. The loan is paid directly to you as a contribution towards your course and living costs. The loan isn’t based on your household income.

Postgraduate Loans You’ll only start repaying when your income is over £21,000 per year. You’ll pay back 6% of your income over the minimum amount (‘threshold’). Example You earn £30,000 a year (gross). This is £9,000 over the annual threshold. You’ll repay £45 each month.
