3 What are the EU Sustainable Energy Awards?
These Awards highlight innovative projects which shap Europe’s energy future by encouraging energy saving and the use of renewables. They reward the year’s most successful projects for promoting clean, secure and efficient energy. From the best submitted projects – the finalists – an expert jury chooses the winners, and a Citizens’ Award is voted by the general public

4 Categories CONSUMERS: Leading change in consumer energy choices
Rewarding actions leading to the behavioural change of individual energy users PUBLIC SECTOR: Leading innovation Rewarding public and non-profit organisations taking exemplary initiatives in energy efficiency or use of renewables BUSINESSES: Leading green growth Rewarding forward-thinking businesses which are exemplary in their production or use of energy ENERGY ISLANDS: Leading clean energy autonomy Rewarding initiatives to increase sustainable energy security -in communities not connected to a wider grid

5 Citizens’ Award An online public vote will determine the winner of the Citizens’ Award from among the finalists of the 4 categories The public vote will be launched on the EUSEW website closer the conference date, when the names of the finalists are known Last year, almost votes were cast to determine the winner

6 Who can apply?

7 Who can apply? Any recent project from the EU28 or in one of the following countries: Iceland, Norway, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Israel, Moldova, Switzerland, Faroe Islands, Ukraine, Tunisia, Georgia, Armenia. Projects can range from a small local initiative to an industry-wide programme. They just have to boost the energy transition and the Energy Union – and do this in a way that innovates.
