EDL - Background Energy Developments Limited is 100% owned by the Duet Group Duet successfully acquired the EDL business on 22 October 2015 EDL is a Brisbane based owner and operator of remote and clean energy power generation projects located in Australia, Europe and the United States. EDL’s comprise four regional business units Australian Remote Energy Australian Clean Energy European Clean Energy and US Clean Energy

EDL – Background – Remote Energy Within the Australian Remote Energy business unit, EDL provides electricity to remote towns, communities and mines that are not connected to power grid infrastructure, via power plants that are predominately fuelled by natural gas with some diesel generation

EDL – Background – Clean Energy Within the Clean Energy business unit, EDL generates power from methane gas extracted from underground metallurgical coal mines (referred to as waste coal methane gas or WCMG) and methane gas extracted from landfills (referred to as landfill gas or LFG).

West Kimberley Power Project (WKPP) EDL’s WKPP has four (4) gas fired power stations in the West Kimberley in the townships of Broome, Derby, Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek. To supply fuel to these powers stations, LNG is produced at a facility near Karratha at the Maitland Industrial Estate.

West Kimberley Power Project (WKPP) Each of EDL’s WKPP Power Stations has a connected Fuel Storage Facility for the LNG Fuel. Upon demand, the LNG is vaporised back to NG for use in the gas fired Electrical Generating Modules. The technology to produce and transport LNG has allowed the creation of a “Virtual Pipeline” to transfer natural gas from the Barrup peninsular to the West Kimberley’s townships

Directhaul are contracted to manage the operation and maintenance of the fleet of six (6) triple road trains between each of the EDL sites. All of these assets are certified Dangerous Goods carriers and operate on an approved DG route.

Road Train Details – DG Route Directhaul and EDL operate within an approved DG route for the triple road trains between Maitland and the four Power Stations (Fuel Stores)

Road Train Details – Schedule Directhaul’s fleet controller based in Broome manages the schedule of the assets and drivers and is the principle point of contact between EDL and Directhaul Any maintenance or operational issues are communicated through the fleet controller Maintenance is conducted at the Directhaul Broome workshop

Road Transportation of LNG – Unique Challenge Unique challenge for EDL and Directhaul is to transfer a large volume of LNG safely across a distributed network utilising the maximum payload of LNG road freight

Metrics and KPIs Greater than 6,700 loads have been delivered to WKPP Fuel Stores Approximately 38,000 tonnes transferred this year Fuel stores have been maintained at above target levels

Future Targets Demand is increasing year on year – fleet adjustments and resourcing are continually reviewed in order to meet demand Maintenance of Service Levels Wet season versus Dry season demand and maintenance opportunities
