2 Impressionism An art movement during the 19th century
They sought to portray natural beauty in their surroundings at a given moment Their brush strokes were short and “broken” often using unmixed colors to show spontaneity

5 Cubism An art movement in the 20th century
Objects were portrayed in many different angles all at once (there wasn’t one fixed angle) Objects are taken apart and reshaped by the use of flat intersecting planes

8 Pointillism small, distinct dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image. Georges Seurat and Paul Signac developed the technique in 1886, branching from Impressionism.

10 Surrealism A radical approach to art that focuses on the subconscious.
