Early life William Shakespeare was the son of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in England, on 23 April, but baptized on 26 April William was the third of eight children.

School years William attended the local grammar school which was the King's New School in Stratford. the school would have provided an intensive education in Latin grammar and the classics.
