3 What does an excellent Catholic School Like
What does an excellent Catholic School Like? By the time a child has completed Catholic Education they should have…?

4 The Catholic School “the special character of the Catholic school, the underlying reason for it … is precisely the quality of the religious instruction integrated into the education of the pupils.” (Circular Letter to the Presidents of Bishops’ Conferences on Religious Education in Schools)

5  Evangelisation is, therefore, the mission of the Church; that is she must proclaim the good news of salvation to all, generate new creatures in Christ through Baptism, and train them to live knowingly as children of God. The Catholic school forms part of the saving mission of the Church, especially for education in the faith… It is precisely in the Gospel of Christ, taking root in the minds and lives of the faithful, that the Catholic school finds its definition. The Catholic School, The Sacred Congregation for Catholic Education

6 By their witness and their behaviour teachers are of the first importance to impart a distinctive character to Catholic schools. It is, therefore, indispensable to ensure their continuing formation through some form of suitable pastoral provision. This must aim to animate them as witnesses of Christ in the classroom and tackle the problems of their particular apostolate, especially regarding a Christian vision of the world and of education, problems also connected with the art of teaching in accordance with the principles of the Gospel. 27 Planning for Advent Sharing Good Practice

28 General Themes during Advent
Advent marks the beginning of the Church’s year. The word ADVENT comes from the Latin word ‘adventus’ which means ‘arrival’, ‘coming’ or ‘a drawing near’. During Advent, Christians focus on preparing for: The coming of Christ in history (the birth of Jesus which we celebrate on December 25) and a remembrance of how the people of God waited expectantly for the Messiah; That believers wait in joyful expectation for Jesus to come again in glory at the end of time (the Second Coming).
