2 Undergraduate TEP Admission Requirements
Successful completion of: 50 hours of college credit (40 hours in general studies) 2.75 GPA on all work attempted (teaching field, professional studies, and total institution-overall) ED 402, ENG 101, ENG 102, and COMS 101 with “C” or better “C” or better in all general studies, teaching field, and professional studies courses TEP Interview Core Academic Skills for Educators Test Background clearance Status Letters will be sent out stating what needs to be fulfilled for TEP admission.

3 Graduate EDHH and Collaborative TEP Admission Requirements
Successful completion of: TEP Interview Core Academic Skills for Educators Test All outstanding pre-requisite coursework (see individual evaluation for specific coursework) Elementary Multiple Subjects Praxis II Test (5001) Background clearance Your ALT A evaluation explains what is needed for TEP admission.

4 P-12/Secondary Graduate TEP Requirements
Prior to Stage B/Phase II, successful completion of: TEP interview Core Academic Skills for Educators Test Phase I All outstanding pre-requisite coursework (see individual evaluation for specific coursework) Praxis II Subject Test (see individual Alt A evaluation for specific testing information) Background clearance Must meet requirements for each Phase before moving on to the next Phase Your ALT A evaluation explains what is needed for TEP admission.

5 TEP Retention and Completion GPAs
Undergraduate Minimum GPAs: 2.75 Teaching Field, 2.75 Professional Studies, and 2.75 total institution (overall) Graduate GPA: Maintain a minimum of 3.25 overall

7 TEP Interview Information

8 TEP Interview Purpose and Date
The purpose of the interview is to assess your readiness for formal admission to the Teacher Education Program (TEP). TEP Interview Date and Information Fall interview date is Friday, October 6, 2017 (your interview time will be between 1 p.m. & 5 p.m.) You will be notified by of your interview date/time/place Applications are available in the TES office (Wills 207) or on the TES website,

9 TEP Interview Information
Must score 22 to pass A “one” on any item is automatic failure You are allowed three attempts to pass (interviews available fall, spring, & summer) Your advisor will review your score and team comments with you Interview team consists of 3 faculty members (1 from teaching field and 2 from COE, usually not interviewed by advisor) Each interview lasts minutes

Questions related to your understanding of the following areas will be asked: importance of content knowledge for teachers best practices in teaching & learning various forms of literacy diversity in today’s classrooms various aspects of professionalism See TEP Interview Summary Sheet for sample interview questions

11 TEP Interview Tips Prepare for your interview (have a friend ask you mock questions, think about how you would answer the questions, etc.) Arrive early Dress professionally for your interview

13 Core Academic Skills for Educators Test Information
See handout or visit for Core Academic Skills for Educators testing information. Successful completion of the Core Academic Skills for Educators is required for TEP admission.

14 Praxis II Successful completion of all Praxis II tests are required for internship Official score reports MUST be received in our office by August 1 for fall interns & December 1 for spring interns Specific content area test information is available on the TES website, See handout for Praxis II tests required for your program area Send score report to ALSDE and the University of Montevallo and include your full social security number on test documents

17 Fingerprint and Background Clearance
Clearance is required to go into the schools for field placement Check for clearance through the Public Teaching Certificate Portal Fingerprint/background clearance information Type in name here to search for information

18 TEP Handbook Handbook includes:
guidelines and requirements for TEP admission, retention, and completion other TEP information field and clinical information forms It is your responsibility to know the information in the TEP Handbook. The TEP Handbook and other TEP information is available on TES website.
