Over HK$ 42 million in 166 KT projects since 2009 CUHK the first university in HK to receive funding from the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (“SIE Fund”) on 4 KPF projects (HK$1.6m in 2017) TSSSU = Technology Support Scheme for Startups in Universities

TSSSU Startups Sustainable-KPF (Social Enterprises) Technology Start-up Support Scheme for Universities Funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) since 2014 Funding: Up to HK$ 500k per year for up to 3 years Encourage professors and students to launch their own technology startups to commercialize their R&D results Mentoring by qualified business manager with extensive industrial and financial network Sustainable Knowledge Transfer Project Fund Supports CUHK professors to convert previous KPF projects into sustainable social enterprises. Funding: 1st year up to HK$ 400k; 2nd year up to HK$ 200k Mentoring by qualified social business consultants with extensive industrial and financial network Continuous training, seminar, workshops provided by CUHK’s Pi-Center TSSSU = Technology Support Scheme for Startups in Universities

(Social Enterprises) Company SLCO Community Resources Ltd Leader Prof Gladys Tang, Dept. of Linguistics and Modern Languages Mission Evidence-based sign bilingual education services for deaf children and their families professional support and consultancy services for schools Strength developed by the Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies (CSLDS) Posed to receive $1M from SIE Fund and matching from other investors in May 2017 Company Pro-talent Association Ltd Leader Prof Agnes Chan, Dept. of Psychology Mission music training programs based upon brain science for improving emotion and behavior of autistic children aims to develop musical talent in autistic individuals with self-sustainable chamber orchestra Strength Li Ka Shing Foundation pledged to donate $5M for the next 5 years To complement the TSSSU initiative from ITC for technology transfer start-ups, ORKTS has initiated the S-KPF to support the set up of promising social enterprises. We provided business mentors to the teams.
