An ELD- electronic logging device- is technology for automatically recording driver’s driving time, or Hours of Service, and other data as mandated by the FMCSA to replace outdated paper logs.
Drivers currently using telematics have until December 2019 to switch to ELD
Drivers using anything less than telematics- other technology, paper logs, or nothing- must have ELD installed by December 18, 2017
