Haute Couture It is exclusive custom fitted clothing made from high quality, unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail by experienced tailors. It is very expensive, exclusive and often trend setting.

Custom Clothes Made according to the specifications of an individual customer.

Pret-a-porter Factory made, mass produced, ready to wear clothing made using standard patterns , factory equipments, faster construction techniques. So they cost less.

Fad A fad is something that people are interested in for a short period of time.

Fashion Fashion is a popular or the latest style of clothing, hair, decoration during a particular time.

Classic A classic style is a clothing of enduring interest, unchanging in style and has timeless quality. It never goes out of fashion. e.g. Banarsi saree, white tee and jeans.

Taste Taste means the type of clothes someone likes.

Hi - Style Hi-Style is the most up-to-date, elegant, or exclusive fashion in clothing.

Silhouette It is the overall outline or shape of a garment in a two-dimensional representation uniformly filled in black. The three basic shapes in fashion are:- Straight (Tubular) Bell Shaped (Bouffant) Bustle (Back full)

Accessory A fashion accessory is an item used to contribute, in a secondary manner, to the wearer's outfit, often used to complete an outfit and chosen to specifically complement the wearer's look. e.g. handbag, eyewear, umbrella, shoes, hats, watch, jewellery.

Notions Notions are small objects or accessories that are attached to a finished article, such as buttons, snaps, and collar stays. Notions also include the small tools used in sewing, such as thread, pins, marking pens, and seam rippers.

Draping Fashion draping is an important part of fashion design. Draping for fashion design is the process of positioning and pinning fabric on a dress form to develop the structure of a garment design. After draping, the fabric is removed from the dress form and used to create the sewing pattern for the garment.

Drafting Drafting is a full scale plan of a garment based on an individual's direct body measurements, which along with some proven formulae are used to develop the shape and fit of a particular garment. This outline is known as Draft, which is then transferred on to the cloth to be cut. Drafts are also referred to as 'blocks' or 'slopers' which are a basis for advanced pattern marking

Design Fashion design is the art of application of design and aesthetics to clothing and accessories. Fashion design is influenced by cultural and social attitudes, and has varied over time and place.

Motif A decorative image or design, especially a repeated one forming a pattern.

Trimmings Trimming is applied ornament, such ribbon, ruffles, lace, embroidery etc.
