High-Level Overview Metro Orchestration: Identifies transport path(s) and End-to-End resource constraints given services and virtual network type Conveys constraints and service requirements to each CORD site(s) CORD sites configure fabric and service(s) for LxVPN LxVPN service request Service Portals Service/Network provisioning application(s) Metro Orchestration Per-Site LxVPN configuration XOS ONOS Per-Site LxVPN configuration Connectivity policy CORD CORD Transport Network (SDN or existing) Controller Central Office (CORD site) CORD HQ Branch Stepping back, what’s unique about E-CORD is that it will need to coordinate multiple CORD sites together to provide end-to-end services to enterprise locations. So we chose to take a hierarchical approach where there is a metro orchestration layer, which manages multiple CORD sites and the transport network in between them. Now let’s look at how we will provision an end-to-end service. 1) First, users will request for a service through their service portal running on the metro orchestrator, for example user can request something like 'give me a L2VPN between these two sites’. 2) In response to that request, metro orchestrator will determine - which sites needs to be involved - which path to go through the transport network - what kind of services and policies needs to be applied. (such as bandwidth profiles) High-level description of, what actions each CORD sites and transport network must take will be sent down to each CORD sites. Details of how the requested action is realized will be up to each CORD site to determine. Now let’s look at what will happen on one of CORD site. Regional HQ
