1 How much of an Inventor are you?
Problem : The Newcastle Amusement Park Company’s rollercoaster just broke down and they need to purchase a new rollercoaster to attract all the thrill seekers in Newcastle. Task: You are a famous amusement park inventor and you need money! You want your rollercoaster design to be selected for the new NC Amusement Park rollercoaster. Goal: Use your knowledge of Force & Motion , Energy, and Circuits to create a mini rollercoaster that will allow a marble to travel from start to finish without any help from the conductor (you ).

2 Your employer is… *Your clients are the Board of Directors for The Newcastle Amusement Park Company (Your Teacher and classmates). *You need to convince your clients that your rollercoaster design is going to attract the most business for their company because it is sturdy (safe), fun, and creative (fun to look at). *You may want to think of a theme for your rollercoaster!

3 Job requirements…. *You need to reflect upon what you have learned about Force and Motion, Energy, and Circuits to have your marble (person) successfully travel from start to finish on your fabulous rollercoaster. 1.) You will need to submit a picture blue print to the NC Amusement Park Company 2.) You will need to submit a materials list to the NC Amusement Park Company 3.) You will need to submit a marble experiment to the NC Amusement Park Company 4.) You will need to submit the final design and energy paragraph to the NC Amusement Park Company 5.) All of the above documentation needs to be assembled into a poster that will be displayed next to your model. You will need to submit your final rollercoaster and model to the NC Amusement Park Company by March 1st.

4 *The Challenge you will deal with is that you have some dimension and material requirements.
*The NC Amusement Park Company board of directors have a great concern for the environment and insist that your rollercoaster is made out of items you can currently find in your home. Think Reuse & Recycle! *You also have to follow the rollercoaster size requirements so that the rollercoaster will fit in the location of the previous rollercoaster. Size 1 meter by 1 meters (largest) and the smallest is 0.25 meters by 0.25 meters. *You will need to include 4 energy transfers in your model to receive a “3” *You will need to include 6 energy transfers in your model and create a circuit that will be triggered by the marble to receive a “4.”
