On your way to Cameron Highlands, you will visit one fascinating place - the Aboriginal village (Orang Asli Village), in which the ancient customs and culture of Malaysian Aboriginal tribes has been preserved to this day. Here you will observe how the locals live today, explore their homes built out of bamboo, try their skills of local weapon use - spears that are blown through a blowpipe, and sample their traditional food. Another beautiful waterfall will allow you to refresh yourself during a short break, and then we will continue our journey to the mountain, where the cool and fresh air will engulf you, and the green hills will give you a wonderful sense of peace and harmony. You will visit the tea plantations where you will learn all about the process of making tea, as well as sample the best grades of various blends. 09.00 Departure to Penang island On the morning of the third day of our tour, we will set out for Penang island, which is often referred to as “Malaysia’s gem”. The island is located on the Andaman sea and is connected to the mainland by a bridge - the second-longest in Malaysia and fifth in the whole of Southeast Asia. Penang was opened by a Chinese Admiral Zheng He during an expedition in the XV century. During the East India Company, the island was bought by an Englishman named Francis Light, and was renamed Prince of Wales Island. The first English establishment on the island was the Cornwallis Fort, and the capital of the island, Georgetown, was founded around the fort. Later on, Penang became part of the British colony. Since 1963, Penang has been a part of Malaysia. Thanks to its unique traditional cuisine, Penang has been announced as “The capital of food” in Malaysia, its cuisine being recognized as the best in Asia by “Time” magazine. Many ancient buildings, marvelous temples, little streets with flea market stalls, the sea breeze, and street art is what awes every tourist upon their visit.
