1 SPORTS 2016 Reflection from 2014 presentation:
Excellent presentation – suggested everyone go to the auditorium for the presentation together – then disperse to the respective sports stations – with those wanting generic questions asked – remain behind A larger room for people to move from station to station and have the space to talk to the respective coach or person manning the sport. Separate area for year 7 & 8 parents as they ask lost of questions Every sport to have a representative for the sport with a wide knowledge of the sport and its programme Summer sport to be catered for – tennis, cricket, softball.

2 VISION Build pride in college, confidence and strength of character in learners through exposure to quality sports experiences. WE AIM TO: Offer a wide range of opportunities in sport. Provide experiences for learners to be better than before. Foster a positive sporting culture and environment. We at Whangaparaoa College agree that when playing sport we will: Enjoy ourselves Play within the rules Respect the decisions of the referees and umpires Respect the opposition and their supporters Win with humility, lose with dignity Play hard but play fair

7 Players Code: Represent your school with pride
Play in correct school playing uniform and safety equipment Show respect for the game Play hard, but within the rules of the game. Recognise and respect the abilities and disabilities of others – both team mates and opponents Accept the official’s decision without gesture or argument Win with humility, lose with dignity Support the coaches and the requests they make of you Show appreciation of the coach, officials, opponents and supporters Advise coaches/managers of unavailability, with as much advance warning as possible Attend all practices, games and meetings on time

8 Parents Code Positively encourage and support the efforts of all players Make an effort to understand the rules of the game Refrain from any criticism or abuse directed at officials or opponents Put an emphasis on genuine effort ahead of victory and encourage players to accept the outcomes of all games, irrespective of the result Recognise good play by either team Ensure full payment is made prior to play Support learners participation, ensuring they meet the training and playing schedules Support by volunteering to help where possible – managing, driving, fundraising etc Abide by the principles of fair play

15 ZONE Days (Yr 7/8 only): One day inter-school competition
Sports offered is subject to change. ‘ZONE’ is the North Shore - this includes all intermediates from the Harbour Bridge to Warkworth. Learners can participate in as many of the events that are offered. Each sport/event will cost $20. Several weeks before the competition day learners will be expected to attend regular trainings. Parent help is appreciated – either as coach, manager, driver Uniform will be either PE gear or provided
