Developed in 1949 at Cornell University by Walter Pauk.
Designed in response to frustration over student test scores.
Meant to be easily used as a test study guide.
Adopted by most major law schools as the preferred note taking method.

Avoid distractions.

10. Set Up Your Notes Dividers
In a new section of your notebook, write Cornell Notes Template and put it in your Table of Contents. Set up the page according to the picture:

Use the overall topic of the lesson.

20. SUMMARIZE Tell what you learned. Main ideas, not details.
Don’t give a class play-by-play.

learned, did you learn anything?

Help the other person if he/she gets stuck.

Compare with other students.
Waiting until the night before
the test to study is a sure way
to lower your grade.

You should write down every word your teacher says.
You should put key terms on the left side of your paper.
A summary of the notes on that page goes at the bottom.
A good title for your Cornell Notes should be Math or ELA.
