UCET Manifesto: Teacher training, supply and retention
All teachers should be properly qualified. Teaching should be an all Master’s qualified profession. All teachers should have access to up to date research findings and be equipped to be skilled practitioners. Simplify the routes into teaching. Provide recruitment incentives in areas of social deprivation and acute teacher shortage. Introduce retention incentives (e.g. writing off student loans after 7 years) Target retention incentives in areas of deprivation.

GPS task How would you describe the connections/links between the professional studies programme and the subject training programme(s) in your school? What do you currently do to connect/link the professional studies programme and the subject training programme(s) in your school? Could you do more and, if so, what? Who should be responsible for making these connections/links and, if so, what could they be asked to do?
