1 Can your Wi-Fi signal cause you cancer?

2 A lot of electromagnetic radiation types
Ionizing radiation, such us X-rays and gamma rays, have enough energy to break molecules  damage DNA and cause mutations Radio and TV signals, AC mains wiring, the motors in home appliances generate non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation.

4 The International EMF Project (WHO)
In response to growing public health concerns over possible health effects from exposure to an ever increasing number and diversity of electromagnetic field sources, in 1996 the World Health Organization (WHO) launched a large, multidisciplinary research effort.  In the area of biological effects and medical applications of non-ionizing radiation approximately 25,000 articles have been published over the past 30 years. “All reviews conducted so far have indicated that exposures below the limits recommended in the ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection , 1998) EMF guidelines, covering the full frequency range from GHz, do not produce any known adverse health effect.”

5 ¿And mobile phones? Magnetic fields arise from the motion of electric charges  electromagnetic fields The electromagnetic fields produced by mobile phones are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as possibly carcinogenic to humans  Why???? If cell phones caused brain cancer (people tend to hold cell phones against their heads) we should already be seeing an increase in overall cases.

7 What if I have electromagnetic hypersensitivity?
A grab-bag of physical symptoms with no known cause: dermatological symptoms (redness, tingling, and burning sensations) as well as neurasthenic symptoms (fatigue, tiredness, concentration difficulties, dizziness, nausea, heart palpitation, and digestive disturbances). Research on this subject is difficult because many other subjective responses may be involved, apart from direct effects of fields themselves.

8 How to market with FUD FUD: fear, uncertainty and doubt  strategy to influence perception by disseminating negative and dubious or false information and appealing to fear. The primary interest of the media is not education.

9 Useful vocabulary Electromagnetic spectrum.
Electromagnetic field/radiation. Short/long wavelength, low/high frequency. Ionizing/Non-ionizing radiation. World Health Organization (WHO). To interact/ to expose. Biological/ health effects. Reproducible effects/results. Alarming-if-true story.
