3. Introduction of the event
The Global Program for Safer Schools (GPSS), in collaboration with its partners, will launch the publication ‘Roadmap for Safer Schools’, and host a 2 day event focused on the integration of risk considerations into education infrastructure. The workshop will include five sessions, following the steps in the Roadmap, as well as a special session on the path to ensuring safety and quality of schools in post-disaster contexts. Case studies from Japan, New Zealand, Peru, and the East and Central Asia region will be presented by experts from Ministries of Education, Arup, Applied Technology Council, the World Bank Group, University College London, and University of Los Andes. The target audience are our clients from the Ministries of Education and other ministries who are involved in school construction and retrofitting.
