2 How it originated The trumpet has a long and rich history. It is believed that the trumpet was used as a signalling device in Ancient Egypt, Greece and the Near East. During the romantic period, the trumpet was evident in various forms of art such as literature and music. 4 How to play the trumpet First, place your mouthpiece in your trumpet. Then make a vibration on your lips that sounds like a fart, which you then do on the mouthpiece. When you blow the trumpet, tense your lips to produce higher notes and relax them to get lower. Next use the valves to play different notes eg: valves 1 and 2 play an E or if you tense your lips an A. Finally, remember, practice makes perfect.
