Scholokhov Boarding School (SBS)
The school project by Dudin A., Tsiganova R., Khorkova K.
2
What is a boarding school?
. In the past, boarding schools in European countries such as Great Britain, Germany and Switzerland were exclusively affiliated with convents and monasteries. Upper class children were educated there and young people aspiring to the priesthood or with a religious vocation were recruited from among them.
3
Why boarding school? In addition to an excellent education, boarding schools impart such values as consideration, responsibility and reliability, due to the child's daily interaction with teachers and schoolmates. Boarding schools offer chances which cannot be acquired in an ordinary school or by contact with family and friends.

School year A school year in SBS consists of three terms (trimesters). The beginning of the school year is in September. After 6 weeks, pupils have their first holiday, which is referred to as “half term“. During this time the school is closed, and the children generally go home, or stay with their guardian. The second term then starts at the beginning of January and finishes at the end of March. There is a one-week half-term holiday in February. The final period of the school year begins in the middle of April and ends at the beginning of July. After that the children have their summer holidays during the months of July and August.
