What does ‘action’ mean?
Asking others to help- donating used books, toys, clothes, etc. Fundraising to get money to buy what they need. Changing the way things are done - writing to government, petitions, etc. Changing the way people in the community view others. Writing to a newspaper or magazine. Awareness- Get their stories known - be a social activist! Donating your time and expertise.

Donate your services….. Teach a group of students some new skills. Volunteer your time (ie. clean the forest Volunteer at a local school, orphanage or hospital. Awareness….. Organize a documentary film about your cause. Write a persuasive message that results in change. Get the message out.

How to be Successful with Fundraising
In fundraising people always want to know “what's in it for them” so you need to provide a good answer. What is the motivation for helping? There has to be real value so they understand ‘why’ they are doing it.

Ask for Donations Check with local companies
Some companies may be willing to donate items if you write and ask them explaining what you are trying to do. Mega Image donated bags for fundraiser A fabric company may offer to make cloth bags with scrapes for free. If people need shoes, then have a shoe drive. If the need is books then have a book drive. Ask your school community

Have an art exhibit, poetry and prose readings, and performances by student bands or individual musicians, and of course serve great snacks. Student-faculty benefit match: Students can challenge faculty and staff to a basketball or volleyball tournament. Charge admission to the game.
