Instructions for using this template.
Remember this is Jeopardy, so where I have written “Answer” this is the prompt the students will see, and where I have “Question” should be the student’s response. To enter your questions and answers, click once on the text on the slide, then highlight and just type over what’s there to replace it. If you hit Delete or Backspace, it sometimes makes the text box disappear. When clicking on the slide to move to the next appropriate slide, be sure you see the hand, not the arrow. (If you put your cursor over a text box, it will be an arrow and WILL NOT take you to the right location.)

You will be given the answer. You must give the correct question.

The meridian or line of longitude that is designated as 0 degrees longitude

What is the Prime Meridian

The shape of the Earth

What is a Sphere

The entire range of electromagnetic waves

What is the Electromagnetic spectrum?

The map projection that’s made by moving contents of the globe onto a flat plane

What is the Azimuthal?

Network of satellites that orbit the Earth to measure positions on the Earths surface

What is Global Positioning System (GPS)?

An electromagnetic wave with a wavelength between that of infrared and short waves (one millimeter to one meter).

What is a Microwave?

A computerized system that allows a user to select different types of information about an area from a single database.

What is the Graphic Information System (GIS)?

Lines that connect points of equal elevation.

What is Contour lines?

One of the four principal compass points north, south, east, and west.

What are Cardinal Directions?

On a map, a darker, heavier contour line that is usually every fifth line that indicates a change in elevation

What is Index Contour?

This is used to describe locations and directions.

What is Reference Point?

Measures the amount of electromagnetic radiation that is emitted or reflected by objects on Earths surface

What is passive remote sensing?

Microwave data is used in this.

What is active remote sensing?

Map makers use a conic projection to map a large area of land spanning east to west.

What is conic projection?

The height of an object above sea level.

What is elevation?

The difference in elevation between contour lines.

What is contour interval?

The difference in elevation between contour lines.

What is relief?

Summary of the symbols on a map.

What is legend?

Shows the surface features of the earth.

What is Topographic Map?

The distance north or south from the equator.

What is Latitude?

A part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

What is Infrared waves?

The line of longitude used as the origin in a system of coordinates.

What is the Prime Meridian?

The map maker Mercator used this mapping method.

What is Cylindrical Projection?

A mapping method useful for determining distance.

What is Equal-Area projection?

Produces its own electromagnetic radiation

What is active remote sensing?

The portion of the electromagnetic spectrum we can see.

What is visible light?

The process of gathering information from distant objects

What is Remote sensing?

Measures radiation reflected or emitted by objects on the Earth

What is Passive Remote Sensing?

All electromagnetic radiation

What is Electromagnetic Spectrum?

Graphs that show wave length that an abject reflect most in the electromagnetic spectrum

What is a Reflectance Curve?

Final Jeopardy Make your wager

0 degrees latitude

What is the Equator?
