J.T. Malatesta, Shareholder
J.T. is the chair of Maynard Cooper’s Cybersecurity practice. He also leads the firm’s e-discovery practice. Cybersecurity Risk Management and Data Breach Litigation. J.T. helps businesses develop cyber risk management and mitigation strategies, including the development and implementation of incident response plans, updating vendor management programs, and performing cybersecurity compliance audits. J.T. is a NetDiligence® Breach Coach. He guides clients through the immediate and necessary steps following a data breach, including incident response, data breach notification, regulator inquiries and, if necessary, civil litigation. He has represented a number of clients in data breach litigation, particularly in the financial services and insurance industries. J.T. is a frequent speaker on emerging issues in cybersecurity regulation and data breach litigation. He is one of a handful of lawyers from the across the country recently selected by the Sedona Conference to author an upcoming primer on data security. He is also members of Infragard, a public-private partnership between the FBI and the business community on cybersecurity, and the Sedona Conference Data Security and Privacy Liability Working Group.

His practice is concentrates on placing technology & cyber liability policies for companies of all industries and financial position. Having program authority for Lloyds of London and some of the leading domestic Surplus Lines Insurers, his goal is to deliver tailored Technology & Privacy Liability that fits the needs of companies and non-profit organizations in today's economy. His cyber partnerships span across almost every industry, 5 billion in revenue to start-up organizations, and his placements range from 1M in limit to 350M . A frequent panel speaker at national cyber forums, he is an original member of CRC’s national Cyber & Technology Risk Practice Group and he has worked to develop specialty cyber liability products and programs for CRC’s agency partners – most recently in the area of Excess Cyber capacity. Originally from Savannah, Georgia, he is a graduate of Auburn University and is based CRC’s home office of Birmingham, Alabama. Michael Murphy Vice President Southeast Regional E&O & Cyber Liability Manager Mike serves as Vice President Southeast Regional E&O and Cyber Liability Manager at Sompo International. Mike has been underwriting cyber liability for 8 years, first at Allied World in both New York and Atlanta, and currently with Sompo International (fka Endurance U.S. Insurance). He has broad industry experience, and expertise underwriting in the technology, healthcare, manufacturing, financial institution, law firm and retail spaces. With a deep knowledge of the marketplace including the complexities of constantly evolving coverage offerings, Mike is a reliable partner and resource to many insureds, brokers and colleagues across the country. Mike is a frequent panel speaker and source for Cyber events held by trade organizations and insurance agencies alike.

Kathy Johnson, Vice President of Sales
Kathy Johnson is Vice President of Sales for ThreatAdvice, a Birmingham-based company with a multi-faceted cybersecurity risk analysis platform, primarily focusing on cyber assessment, education and insurance. Prior to joining ThreatAdvice in May 2017, Johnson served as Director of the Office of Broadband Development for Alabama Governors Bob Riley, Robert Bentley and Kay Ivey. In that role, Johnson advanced access to and use of high-speed Internet to better serve Alabama communities, businesses and citizens. She was appointed to a number of national and state commissions, including a recent appointment by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai to serve on a work group of the Broadband Deployment Advisory Committee (BDAC). She also served on the Broadband Leaders Network for Broadband USA (a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce), the Alabama Telehealth Task Force, Alabama First Responders Wireless Commission and numerous other committees, including task forces addressing cybersecurity risks. She is a National Ambassador for the Internet Innovation Alliance and a mentor for women entering careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Johnson also served as director for the statewide broadband initiatives in Idaho, Wyoming and Wisconsin and as executive director of Alabama’s Children First Foundation and the Alabama Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy. Johnson is a sought-after keynote and motivational speaker, and has presented to over 125,000 people across the country. She is a graduate of Leadership Alabama and was named 2012 Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women.
