2 Biography Born in Quanzhou City, China in 1957
Originally trained in stage design in the Shanghai Theater Academy His father was a traditional painter/calligrapher who worked in a bookstore. Exposed to Western literature as well as traditional forms of chinese art when he was young 59 years old chuenzhjo ‘sai gwo-chao’

He experimented with various different types of media such as Drawing, Installation, and Video / Performance art He eventually began experimenting with gun powder while living in Japan from 1986 to 1995 This was the beginning of his signature ‘explosive’ live performances Has been awarded many times for his unmatched works of art He was in charge of the visual and special effects for the opening/closing ceremony in the 2008 Beijing Olympics

4 About his art His most noted works are achieved through the various use of gun powder and explosion demonstrations Creates powerful and effective works of art as well as visual performances His works can be massive, taking up even entire rooms in art galleries Has over 100+ artworks and performances

Was ignited on 25th of September in 2013 in Shanghai Inspired by his hometown Quanzhou City, China Created for the first Christie’s auction held in Mainland China The piece was sold for 15 million RMB ($2,940,867 CAD) Most expensive drawing sold at the event The proceeds of the sale goes to the Foundation for the Quanzhou Museum of Contemporary Art RMB = yuan 15 mil = $2,940,867 abt 3 mil
