and in a hurry. Offices close at 1 o’clock but the shops stay open late. On Christmas Eve children hang their Christmas stockings on their beds. They wait for Santa Claus and other miracles

10 Christmas tree The tradition of Christmas Tree started in 16th century
in Germany. On a brisk, clear Christmas Eve, Martin Luther, a German theologian, was walking home under a bright, starry sky, which was so beautiful that he wanted to recreate its beauty for his children. His idea was to decorate a large evergreen tree with glowing candles.

18 Santa Claus gets his origin from St. Nicholas, a generous man from 4th century A.D. who helped the children and the poor, often throwing gifts through children’s windows to make them happy.

Immigrants in 1600s as “sinter Klaas” Americans Soon began calling him “Santa Claus”. He is described as fat, jolly, red-suited and white-beard man from the North Pole

21 In the evening of the 24th of December children hang their Christmas stockings on their beds or put them under the Christmas tree. Father Christmas (Santa Claus) puts presents into them. A Christmas stocking is not a real stocking. It is big and beautifully decorated.
