SECTION 3.4 NKJV

MAIN IDEA If Jesus Christ did not rise from the dead, our faith would be worth nothing. But because Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose again, when we trust in Him as our Savior, we are saved from sin. We also have the sure hope that when we die, He will raise us up and give us new bodies so we can live forever in heaven with Him. NKJV

MEMORY VERSES 1 CORINTHIANS 15:19-20 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. NKJV

INTRODUCTION Do we always get the things we hope for here on earth? Does anyone know the difference between hoping for something like a toy and the hope we have when we trust Jesus Christ as our Savior? What is it? NKJV

MAIN LESSON 1. Without the resurrection our faith is worthless and we would still have to be punished for our sins. NKJV

MAIN LESSON 1 Corinthians 15:17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! NKJV

MAIN LESSON 2. Because Christ died and rose to life, He will also raise us to life one day with a new, perfect body that will never die. NKJV

MAIN LESSON 1 Corinthians 15:51-53 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed — in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. NKJV

MAIN LESSON 3. We know that if we trust Christ as Savior, we will live forever in heaven just as God promises. NKJV

MAIN LESSON 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 But I do not want you to be ignorant, bre-thren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we NKJV

MAIN LESSON 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, continued say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the NKJV

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, continued
MAIN LESSON 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, continued trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. NKJV

MAIN LESSON 4. We can rejoice in the hope that we have because of Christ’s resurrection. We have the sure hope of heaven someday and we have help and power from Christ to live our lives on earth. NKJV

MAIN LESSON John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will NKJV

MAIN LESSON John 14:1-3, continued come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. NKJV

MAIN LESSON 2 Corinthians 13:4 For though He was crucified in weak-ness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you. NKJV
