Views on the benefits of continued engagement with the University David Ord, Arcadis Consulting
Personal benefits and Employer benefits
17
David says …. “Personally, it gives me a chance to ‘give back’ …to help students realise there is a rewarding career at the end of it … is a great personal satisfaction. It is something I am very passionate about doing. As an employer, it works to our benefit, because by allowing me to come and tell your students what I do, I am also promoting the company and subconsciously enticing the students to apply. By having this 360 link it helps keep a strong relationship and benefits both parties equally – the university can brag about their success, the employer can be at the top of the application list and get the pick of the crop”.
18
Katy Toms, AECOM
19
Katy says …. “I hope that my time with the students has given them an insight into the industry and inspired them to maintain commitment to academic study to go on and have a positive impact on the industry. My continued involvement with Plymouth has given me more confidence … in public speaking at conferences … and in internal and external meetings in my role at AECOM. In my Professional Review with the ICE, I was able to demonstrate my commitment to the industry by giving back to the university”
20
Industry engagement was commended by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM)
