INSTRUCTIONS FOR FOOD CHAIN GAME:
SPI Classify organisms as producers, consumers, scavengers, or decomposers according to their role in a food chain or food web. INSTRUCTIONS FOR FOOD CHAIN GAME: Today, we are going to practice inside to make sure we understand the rules and your roles of the game. You are going to be playing a role during a game of tag. You will either be a plant, wolf, deer, fungus, or vulture. Based on what role you have, that is how you act during the game. You will have a chance to play more than 1 roles so tonight STUDY EACH ROLE so you know what you need to do the next day during our game of tag. If everyone does this and is ready for the game then we can simply start playing right away.

SPI Classify organisms as producers, consumers, scavengers, or decomposers according to their role in a food chain or food web. Producer (Plant)- You take the energy of the sun, carbon dioxide, and water, and you make sugar for the consumers to eat. 1. You will not be able to move around except to blow in the wind. 2. When a primary consumer touches you, you are eaten. You must then squat down for 20 seconds. 3. At the end of 20 seconds you have regrown and can stand up again.

SPI Classify organisms as producers, consumers, scavengers, or decomposers according to their role in a food chain or food web. Primary Consumer (The Deer)- You eat plants to get your energy. 1. You will be able to move around, but deer make no noises, so you must be silent. You can’t talk to other deer. 2. When a wolf (secondary consumer) touches you, than you are eaten. You must then duck down until you are touched on the shoulder by 2 deer at the same time. Your then reborn! 3. To stay alive you must eat a plant every 20 seconds or else you die of starvation. ****When you are dead, you may make noises for the other deer to know to come help you.

SPI Classify organisms as producers, consumers, scavengers, or decomposers according to their role in a food chain or food web. Secondary Consumer (The Wolf)- You eat other animals to get your energy. 1. You will be able to move around. When you see a deer you want to eat you must growl before you chase it. 2. When you tag a deer on the should it has been eaten. 3. To stay alive you must eat a deer every 20 seconds. If you fail to do this you will die of starvation & must squat down until 2 wolves touch you on the shoulder at the same time. You are reborn! *****When you are dead you can make noise to call other wolves to be reborn!

SPI Classify organisms as producers, consumers, scavengers, or decomposers according to their role in a food chain or food web. Scavenger (The Vulture)-You only eat dead organisms or in this case deer. You are vital to the role of this environment. 1. As a vulture you must soar around waiting for dead deer. 2. You must find a dead deer every 45 seconds or else you die of starvation. 3. When you touch a dead deer they are then magically reproduced as their nutrients are recycled again. ******You are crucial to the ecosystem! The deer are depending on you!

SPI Classify organisms as producers, consumers, scavengers, or decomposers according to their role in a food chain or food web. Scavenger (The Fungus)- You only eat dead organisms or in this case plants. You are vital to the role of this environment. 1. Fungus spreads quickly, therefore you will be able to move around (walking only). 2. If you see a plant that is dead you may touch it on the shoulder to revive that plant right away. 3. You will never die as fungus are very resilient. ****You are crucial to the ecosystem! The plants are depending on you!

SPI Classify organisms as producers, consumers, scavengers, or decomposers according to their role in a food chain or food web. Exit Ticket: Quiz over interdependence—food chains, food webs, producers, consumers, scavengers, decomposers. You must not write on the quiz paper. This is a class set. Please write on a separate sheet of paper. Remember use your cover sheet and when you are finished put the cover sheet on the top. Wait quietly while others finish.
