Oldest & first operating bank in Saudi Arabia One of the leading banks Founded in 1926 as a branch of the Netherland Trading Society, opens its first office in Jeddah. 1926: Acted as the central bank, keeping the Kingdom's gold reserves and receiving oil revenues on behalf of the Saudi Arabian government 1927: Served the pilgrims by supporting their financial needs. 1928: Contributed in the issuance of the first independent currency 1930: Provides finance for the importation of Ford motor cars 1933: First oil deal

5 SHB operations 1931: First branch in Makkah
1954: First branches in Khobar and Dammam 1977: Established as a joint-venture company with a paid-up capital of SAR 35 million. 1999: First ladies branch in Riyadh 2012: Operates in Saudi Arabia, Gulf Countries and the Middle East, Europe and America. Headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Employs over 1,400 staff with a Saudization ratio of over 87.44% Operates through a network of more than 50 branches, 15 ladies sections, and over 260 ATMs (Relbanks, 2012). SHB paid-up capital amounted to SAR 3.9 million. SHB operations

In late of 2012, SHB has added a new Business Banking Segment which serve the small & medium enterprises (SME’s), this segment defined by the companies yearly turnover, any company with sales of SAR 5 mln up to 75 mln will be included SME department is a specialized dept. that care and meets banking need and financial requirements of small/medium companies The small/medium businesses operating in various sectors including trading, manufacturing, contracting and services

14 Business Banking Segment Steps followed for a New facility request
When a client proposes a certain facility, The Relationship Manager (RM) meets with the client: to know the nature of the business To know the type of facility requested To know the purpose use of the requested facility Educating and marketing the fit products to the client that can benefit both parties Writing a call report when visit, and circulate it to the higher management authorities to get their initial approval to start the credit study Analyze and spread the client's financial statements for the past three years, using the Moody’s Financial Analyst System

15 Business Banking Segment Steps followed for a new facility request
Write the credit proposal Prepare projected Risk On Retain Assets (RORA), and Credit Rating Tool (CRT) Create a presentation using Risk Approval Process & Information Delivery system (RAPID) Send the proposal, call report, RAPID, projected RORA, and CRT to the Risk Administration Department (RAD) to get their risk approval, then will circulate to the higher authorities

Business Banking Segment Steps followed for an existing facility Review Each RM should submit review proposals of their existing clients on an annual basis until the maturity date of the facility To keep on track with the client's financial performance Write a review proposal Prepare historical RORA Prepare projected RORA Submit them to the higher authorities

18 Relating the technical part to what I have learned at PMU
Learning about the financial statements in my accounting and finance courses helped me in: Understanding the financial statements given Using Moody’s Financial Analyst easily, and generating the spread sheet Analyzing the financials of the clients Learning about the financial ratios from some of the finance courses helped me in: - Analyzing the spread sheet generated

The banking and Finance Core Courses such as : Banking Law Commercial Banking and Finance Financial Management Portfolio Management Lending Decisions Investment Banking Monetary Theory and Policy The above concept in banking helped me understand easily the banking products and service being offered by SHB to its clients and helped me perform my task and responsibility as intern.
