2. License Plate Facts
If you sell your vehicle and don’t transfer the plates to a new car, the old plates must be turned into any MVC or mail to MVC in Trenton.
Keep the receipt provided.

3. Inspection Process
The NJ emissions inspector will determine the vehicle’s engine type
MVC tests the vehicles brake suspension, steering, wheel alignment and safety features (headlights, tail lights, tires, horn, windshield wipers, and turn signals)

Brand new cars are not required to be inspected until 5 years after purchase
Cars that are not new need to be inspected every 2 years

5. Insurance
Motor Vehicle liability insurance is mandatory in NJ

6. Lost or Stolen Permits, Non-Driver IDs and Licenses
Any MVC agency will issue a duplicate permit for any class vehicle for $5
Motorists must provide proof they are at least 17 years old and have a proof of identity
A lost or stolen license should be reported to the police. The applicant must appear in person at any agency to obtain a duplicate license or ID card.

9. Organ Donation
Anyone can decide to be a donor. There are no costs to the family for donation and will not affect funeral arrangements.
Age, gender, race, ethnicity or wealth do not affect who receives available organs.

Whenever you update your license you will be asked about Organ Donation
