Eliminates both preacheritis and biased rejection
Gospel is valid and its message is true regardless of the messenger, Phil 1:15-18

He applied Scriptures to Himself and to them, Luke 4:21, 24-27

Humility: Pride prevents an honest examination of oneself
Do I really want the truth?
Do I argue with the Bible?
