Discerning The Lord’s Body
10
Genesis 3:6-7 6. So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they new that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
11
Luke 24:27-31 27. And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. 28. Then they drew near to the village where they were going, and He indicated that He would have gone farther. 29. But they constrained Him, saying, “Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.” And He went in to stay with them. 30. Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. 31. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
12
1 Corinthians 11:17-20 17. Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better for the worse. 18. For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 19. For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you. 20. Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper.
13
1 Corinthians 11:21-22 21. For in eating, each on takes his own supper ahead of others, and one is hungry and another is drunk. 22. What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you.
14
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 23. For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24. And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25. In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26. For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
15
1 Corinthians 11:27-29 27. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgement to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
16
1 Corinthians 11:27-32 30. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. 31. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. 32. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
17
Luke 22:14-15 14. When the hour had come, He sat down, and the twelve apostles with Him. 15. Then He said to them, “I have earnestly and intensely desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer” (AMP)
18
Luke 22:19-20 19. And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 20. Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.”
19
Exodus 12:2-4 2. “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3. Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: ‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. 4. ‘And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the person; according to each man’s need you shall make your count for the lamb.
20
Exodus 12:5-6 5. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
22
Exodus 12:7-9 7. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. 8. Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9. Do not eat it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roasted in fire – its head with its legs and its entrails (inner parts).
23
Exodus 12:10-11 10. You shall let none of it remain until morning, and what remains of it until morning you shall burn with fire. 11. And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. So you shall eat it in haste. It is the Lords Passover.
24
1 Corinthians 5:7 7. …For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
25
Isaiah 53:4 4. Surely He has borne our [Choli – חֳלָיֵ֙נוּ֙] sicknesses and carried our [Makob – וּמַכְאֹבֵ֖ינוּ] pains; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. 5. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
26
Psalm 105:37 37. He also brought them out with silver and gold, and there was none feeble among His tribes.
27
1 Corinthians 11:29-30 29. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgement to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.
29
