Greater Manchester Cancer The national Cancer Vanguard Vanguard Innovation Single national Cancer Vanguard – ‘Accountable Clinical Network for Cancer’ – Greater Manchester Cancer Vanguard Innovation, Royal Marsden Partners & UCLH Cancer Collaborative Implementing ‘Achieving World Class Cancer Outcomes’ – to see radical improvements in cancer outcomes Aligning with local Sustainability and Transformation Planning (STP) and Cancer Board structures Population covered is over 10 million (2.8m in GM) Two-year programme testing new replicable models of cancer care delivery and commissioning – formally commenced in April 2016

Vanguard Innovation World’s largest patient review site – over 4 million patient reviews published Patient experience and outcomes in real time Reviews of individual clinicians, hospitals, community services, hospices, GP practices etc. Approx 100,000 new reviews every month Operating internationally in 23 countries, 18 languages Question sets developed and refined over 8 years to meet needs of patients and providers Involved in Cancer Vanguard since Feb 2016

Vanguard Innovation Questions applicable to each care setting that are easy to understand and to complete, providing the opportunity for patients and carers to provide feedback on care and treatment across all contact points. Questions devised to address some of the key indicators and outcomes of the Vanguard, such as: Respect for patient-centred values (including dignity, quality of life, shared decisions) Information and communication (on care and treatment and the involvement of family and friends) Coordination and integration of care across and within services Access to care, in particular the timeliness of access to services Demographics to enrich data analysis.

Greater Manchester Cancer Data collection and benchmarking Vanguard Innovation New Vanguard question sets developed in consultation with stakeholders for: Acute setting Community setting Palliative Care Paediatrics All question sets have questions in common with each other and with the other questions asked by iWGC partners across the UK for cancer and non-cancer care. Ability to benchmark cancer services: By provider By care type By stage of patient journey Against general quality of care in the NHS
