Welcome to the Assistant Principal Candidate Development Opportunity (APCDO) Webinar. My name is Dr. Samuel Maldonado and I serve as the Senior Manager for Leadership Development and the lead contact for APCDO. APCDO is a grow-your-own leadership development experience for aspiring campus leaders. The ultimate focus of APCDO is to grow and develop the knowledge, skills, and disposition of HISD aspiring assistant principals and deans.

Assistant Principal/Dean Pipeline/Pool Process Master‘s degree Principal or mid-management certification 3 years of exemplary teaching experience Leadership experience at the campus level The School Leadership Selection Process has a designated pipeline for assistant principals and deans. Eligibility for the Assistant Principal/Dean Pipeline/Pool Process includes: a) Master‘s degree, b) Principal or mid-management certification, c) 3 years of exemplary teaching experience, and d) Leadership roles at the campus level.

APCDO Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must: be recommended by a Principal or School Support Officer; be currently in the Houston ISD Assistant Principal Pipeline; be in good standing with the District. To be eligible for APCDO, candidates must provide a letter of recommendation from their principal or school support officer, currently be part of the Houston ISD Assistant Principal Pipeline, and be in good standing with the district.

APCDO Content Overview
Instructional Leadership – ensuring every student receives high-quality instruction. Human Capital – ensuring there are high-quality teachers and staff in every classroom and throughout the school. Executive Leadership – modeling a consistent focus on and commitment to improving student learning. School Culture – establishing and implementing a shared vision and culture of high expectation for all staff and students. Strategic Operations – implementing systems that align with the school’s vision and improve the quality of instruction. The content may include but is not limited to Instructional Leadership – ensuring every student receives high-quality instruction. June 5 HISD Action Item, APCDO Webinar; Intent to Apply opens via a Survey Monkey link. June 7,14,19 Aug 15 & 22 Face-to-Face Information Session (Ryan PDC) – 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. If you view the Webinar Information Session, there is NO NEED to attend the face-to-face session. Aug 31 Intent to Apply closes. Sept 7 List of potential candidates is presented to the Office of School Support. Sept 19 Notification of Acceptance/Denial candidates (reminder of Meet & Greet on September 26, 2017).
